The Théâtre du Nouveau Monde has graced Sainte-Catherine Street since 1972. Built in 1912, it was both a theatre and a movie house before it was ultimately chosen by Jean-Louis Roux as a venue in which to permanently house his company, founded in 1951. Trizart Alliance was commissioned as theatre consultant to lead this major restauration.

Since its beginnings, this Montréal theatrical institution has attracted wide audiences, thanks to its matinee and evening performances. The TNM is the theatre for all your special events. It is a remarkable space that Montrealers enjoy for its intimacy. A warm reception hall is available for cocktails and all types of occasions. In the same area you can find Le Café du Nouveau Monde, a warm and friendly restaurant-bar-café on two floors. Behind the regular theatre there are two smaller reception areas equipped with a bar for more intimate gatherings. Also on the upper floor there is a rehearsal hall and a VIP salon, which can be used for a variety of events.

Since it was renovated in 1996 by our theatre consulting firm, giving its façade and interior a face-lift, it has been offering an even more impressive line-up. To the delight of its loyal fans, its legendary charms and refinement are still very much intact, and its new cutting-edge technical equipment has enabled the theatre to look to the future.
